Towards Building Confidence and Self-Esteem

This was not just a walk but a stride for a great cause. No matter how knowledgeable we are, it does not make a difference until you serve the community and make lives better. As a Toastmaster it was a pleasure for me to be the Event Chair for such a cause towards upliftment in more ways than one.

Amidst a rainy morning on the lazy Sunday of the 29th of September 2019, all the Toastmasters who flocked in numbers to Arcade Independence Square proved that whether it rains or shines Toastmasters never give up or take a step back from a worthy cause. Once we commenced the walk even the climate was to our favor providing a cool shade under heavy skies with breeze.

As a result of the steps that the Toastmasters of District 82 took, there were many inquiries and registrations of new members who felt the value of this platform and I personally have few new members who are now in my club solely as a result of the Smedley Walk initiative.

Despite many challenges that we had to face while bringing the event together, at the end it was only exhilaration that was felt with the comments that we received from the District Trio, Members and Participants on the event, the effort and the impact of it.

My heartfelt gratitude to the District Trio, Division Director Division-C and the rest of the Organizing Committee especially the Awakening members whose support ensured the success of the ‘Smedley Achievers’.

Let us all strive towards doing our little bit in making a small change in the lives of others through Toastmasters.
